Sustainable Farming

The farm is located in Kalege, Nakaseke district, is a vital part of our effort to promote food security, self-sufficiency and ecological sustainability. The farm is meticulously managed using environmentally friendly practices that enhance soil health, conserve water, and promote biodiversity. We grow a variety of crops, to ensure a balanced and nutritious food supply for the Centre.

Every week, the food grown at the farm is harvested and brought back to the Uganda Buddhist Centre. This produce is used to feed the monastic community and visitors, ensuring that everyone benefits from fresh, organic, and locally-grown food. The weekly collection system helps maintain a steady and reliable food supply, reducing dependency on external sources and supporting our goal of sustainability.

The program has significantly contributed to the self-reliance and ecological consciousness of the Uganda Buddhist Centre. We are looking forward to continuing to develop and expand this program, to further enhance our food security, promote sustainable living, and serve as a model of environmental responsibility for the wider community.
