Historic Meeting Strengthens Ties Between Ugandan and Japanese Buddhist Leaders

In a significant moment of spiritual and cultural importance, Ven. Dr. Buddharakkhita, together with His Majesty William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV, met His Eminence Most Venerable Dr. Shinkai Kori in Japan.

His Eminence is the Chief High Priest of the Nenbutsushu Sampozan Muryojuji Temple. This meeting marked an important step in strengthening global Buddhist relations.

His Majesty, the Kyabazinga of the Busoga Kingdom, represents a constitutional monarchy in Eastern Uganda. Therefore, his presence added both cultural and diplomatic significance to the occasion.

The meeting brought together leaders from different traditions. As a result, it reflected unity and shared purpose. In addition, it highlighted a growing connection between Buddhist communities in Uganda and Japan.

During the visit, Ven. Dr. Buddharakkhita and His Majesty presented a symbolic gift. This gesture expressed respect, gratitude, and friendship. Moreover, it strengthened ties between the two communities.
