Julie Wyard is a dedicated educator with over four decades of experience. With a strong academic background, including a BSocSc in International Studies, an MSc in Information Science, and a post-graduate teaching qualification from Cambridge University, England.
Julie has continuously pursued excellence in her field. Her journey in education began as a teacher in Cambridge, where she taught all subjects in classes ranging from Years R to 6, leading her school in geography, history, and Modern Foreign Languages (MFL).
In addition to her role as a class teacher, Julie’s passion for environmental education led her to spearhead initiatives such as the Eco-Schools Award and extracurricular clubs in Nature Studies. Her commitment to experiential learning extended beyond the classroom as a field teacher at Wandlebury Park, guiding students in nature-based activities. She also delivered specialized practical history workshops at IWM (Imperial War Museum), Duxford.
Julie’s impact in education transcended borders as she embarked on voluntary teaching assignments at the Uganda Buddhist Centre in Garuga, Uganda. Here, she leveraged her expertise to foster meaningful learning experiences for students while championing causes related to climate and social justice.
Her diverse career also includes roles in administrative and consultancy capacities in various NGOs in the UK and Uganda, further demonstrating her versatility and commitment to lifelong learning.
Outside of education, Julie’s interests and activities reflect her holistic approach to life. From meditation and yoga to wild swimming and trekking, she finds solace and inspiration in natural environments. Her dedication to yoga extends to leading weekly sessions and practicing daily each morning, embodying her belief in holistic well-being.
