Ugandan Delegation Joins Global Buddhist Summit in Japan

A Ugandan delegation of religious, cultural, and government leaders recently participated in the Ninth World Buddhist Summit held at the Royal Grand Hall of Buddhism in Nenbutsushu Sampozan Muryoji Temple, Kobe, Japan on April 8th 2026.

The delegation included Bhikkhu Buddharakkhita Kaboggoza, founder of the Uganda Buddhist Centre, Andrew Mukomazi, and the Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV, alongside other dignitaries.

They joined Buddhist leaders and representatives from over 51 countries across five continents at the high-level gathering.

The summit brought together global participants to promote unity, peace, and the continued spread of Buddhist teachings.

Discussions, cultural exchanges, and spiritual sessions formed part of the engagements aimed at strengthening international cooperation within the Buddhist community.

Uganda’s participation reflects its growing involvement in global spiritual and cultural dialogue. The presence of the Kyabazinga and national representatives highlighted the country’s commitment to interfaith collaboration and cultural diplomacy.

The event marked a significant moment for the international Buddhist community, reinforcing shared values of harmony, compassion, and mutual understanding.
